Identity Verification

Proof of Identity – Information for Applicants

From 1st July 2018, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) introduced a new minimum proof of identity requirements system, in place of the old 100 points of ID system. Please ensure you have the correct ID documents required to minimise any delays to the processing of your checks.

Identity Documents to be supplied

A minimum of four ID documents must be provided by the applicant to successfully complete your proof of identity. Each provided document may only be used once:

  • One (1) Commencement of ID Document.
  • One (1) Primary Use in Community Document; and
  • Two (2) Secondary Use in Community Documents.

Please ensure that by providing the 4 types of ID we can verify:

  • Your full name.
  • Your Date of Birth; and
  • A photo that needs to be contained on at least one of the ID you have provided.

All ID documents must be originals, not copies, and not expired.

Self-Captured Photo

To prove that you are the person in the photo ID, applicants must also provide a self-captured photo of themselves holding their photo ID.

This is a legal requirement by the ACIC to ensure that the applicant presenting the identity documents is the person to which the documents relate.

Ensure the photo ID you are holding is clear and readable, see below example.
